We both graduated from the same small Bible college in 2009. We had a lot of mutual friends and we interacted here and there, but we were not close friends. In September of 2018, Matt sent me a friend request. On October 25 I sent him the first message, intending to just catch up. On October 26 we exchanged our first messages and a few weeks later had our first phone conversation. Both of us were slightly hesitant as he had come out of a rough relationship a while before this and I was a single mom, but somehow we connected more and more. Matt had just gotten to Germany to be stationed there with the Army band, and I had just started a new job, but it worked out so well for us because we were able to simply talk and get to know each other. Those first few weeks we sacrificed a lot of time and sleep to talk on the phone and send messages. February I flew over to Germany to visit him, and that week just confirmed everything we had been feeling. We knew this was it for both of us. We've been long distance our whole relationship, but that's also been one of the best things about it. Without regular dates and physical interaction, we've had to work harder, especially living in 2 different time zones with different schedules. All we have is talking and laughing and sending random messages. It's been hard, but on October 26 and after it will all be worth it. That's often been the theme of our relationship-"worth it." We believe God brought us together in a very unique and special way, and we are thankful for God's plan in both of our lives over the last 10 years. We are looking forward to our future together!
