Weirdly enough, the story of how we met begins in Boise, Idaho. Bethany met a guy at a bar (not Matt) who was on a soccer team in DC where Bethany was moving for post-doc. Bethany asked if she could join his co-ed team, and he gave her the teams info. When she moved a few months later she joined the team and met Matt! After her first game for the team Matt messaged Bethany complimenting her "stone wall defense." Matt asked whether Bethany was single (because someone wanted to know) and that's how we started talking! Turns out someone else actually wanted to know, but Matt swooped in, very effectively. Since then, Bethany has adopted Matt's cat Penny, and is a very surprised and obsessed cat-mom. Bethany offers Penny much needed psychological support, and both caused and helped address some unfortunate stress-peeing. We've had many adventures together camping in Virginia, exploring Malawi, visiting family in NJ and Boston, and hope to plan many more adventures to come. We feel so lucky to have found each other, and are excited to build a life full of fun, family, friends, adventure, and yummy food.
