On a sunny day in June 2016, Matt and Ashton met at Eisenhower golf course for 9 holes and quickly realized not only did they love golfing, but also traveling. Matt and Ashton got paired up with another two-some who helped break the ice and did a lot of the questioning for them. The two-some did not realize they were trying to get to know each other as well. The two-some was shocked to learn it was their first date. After 9 holes they went to the Cheesecake Factory for the first of many dinners! On June 18th, Matt took Ashton on a plane ride (C182RG for all the plane geeks). They flew past the NYC skyline before continuing to Oxford, Connecticut for dinner. It became official at dinner and they have been together ever since!

October 12th 2019, Matt and Ashton went golfing at Brookville Country Club. On the second hole Matt asked Ashton to marry him. He hid a special golf ball containing the ring in the hole, after getting Ashton to "check the golf cart for his glove." For those wondering at home, she said yes! Matt started the celebration right then and there with champagne that he smuggled onto the course in his golf bag. It was an amazing day, but man the golf scores were rough!
