Probably what you picture when you think of DC. Walk along the National Mall to visit the various monuments & memorials (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, etc), the Smithsonian Museums, and the famous landmarks (Capitol Building, White House). Open 24 hours a day.

We went here for one of our first dates. Great if you're into contemporary art. Admission: free as long as you take the shuttle bus (Route 301 that starts at the Rockville Metro bus terminal). If driving, you need to reserve a free ticket 2-months in advance (July).

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

Can't go wrong with a zoo day! Best way to get there is by taking the Red Line metro to Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan and walking 10 minutes to the zoo entrance. Parking at the zoo is $30-40. There is also street parking around the area. Admission: Free

Nationals Park

Catch a baseball game before the season ends at Nationals Park! We highly recommend taking the metro, the closest station being Navy Yard-Ballpark station on the Green Line.
