Matron of Honor
We became friends in 2005 and have been close ever since. From playing at recess to writing stories together to painting with Bob Ross to road tripping to Nashville, it has been wonderful having Allie as a friend not only to look forward to the future with, but to make the most of the present with and to share the past. It was an honor to be her Maid of Honor for her wedding, and it is a joy to have her as the Matron of mine.

The first friend I ever made was Savanah Mae. We’ve grown up together from little girls who loved dancing and movies to teens who loved coffee and concerts and now women who are starting families of our own. For as long as I can remember, she has been by my side, and I am so thankful that remains true to this day.

Laurel’s friendship was the silver lining of a group project gone wrong the fall of freshman year of college. She became my roommate of the next three years. Together we cooked a lot of meals, drank a lot of tea, decompressed with the Great British Bake Off, lifted weights, ran a half marathon, and got a noise complaint while watching The Lord of the Rings. Since college, we still try to hike annually at Starved Rock State Park and took a trip to Everglades and Biscayne National Parks.

It was hard not to know Monica at Valpo, and it was unthinkable to not befriend her. I remember thinking to myself that I needed to introduce her to Laurel because I thought they would make such great friends only to find out mere days later that they were rooming together and friends from high school! Monica’s cheerfulness and companionship were a welcome respite from the stresses of life, and her disposition has made me more open, more welcoming, and more kind.

A friend of Matt’s before I joined the team and got to know them both, Kaitlyn and I have discovered a mutual love of books, board games, and teas. She came to the QC to support us as we ran our marathon in 2023 and is the reason our first date happened as it did in 2024. She inspires me with her hospitality and ensures my runner’s toes aren’t frightful in sandals. I am grateful she’s in our wedding party and look forward to being in hers next year.
