David's Sister
The words that immediately come to mind when thinking of Dana: brilliant, loyal, Housewives, political, passionate, and heartfelt. My sister is not only a respectable psychologist who works nonstop to help her clients become their very best selves, but she is a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor, at a rally, at a gym, or at the Euchre table. She'll stop at nothing when it comes to making our world a more just place for everyone. She has a deep love of writing and of words, for whenever she has a pen in her hand, something magical gets put onto paper. As my big sister, there have been countless memories of attempting yoga, getting wedgies, and eating tuna casserole. It is truly an honor having Dana, our sister, stand by us on our special day.
Matthew's Brother
Growing up, Greg and I weren't close. In fact, I can recall all the times Greg terrorized me as his little brother (including a very traumatizing faked bloody nose attempt on April Fools Day by my brother, when I almost called 911). However, when my senior year of high school came and I was accepted to Michigan (where Greg is an alum, GO BLUE!), our brotherly bond changed very quickly. Countless nights out together (Bar Louie, TGI Fridays, B-Dubbs), loss, love, and everything between has made us the best friends we are today. Greg has had a profound influence on my beverage preference (Blueberry Stoli, Bourbon, and now Gin Martinis), and the man I am today. And Greg is appreciative I make him look as young as he still is ;). I love you Greg and am lucky to have you by my side today!
Officiant
Five years ago, my first conversation with Megan was by chance. I was going through a significant change in my life, moving back home and needed boxes. Megan was the only staff member at East a week or two before school started that I could find in their classroom and ask for boxes. All Megan said to me was, " I don't know what you are going through right now, but if you need someone to talk to, I am more than happy to listen." Countless bottles of wine, snaps and photos of perfectly poached eggs, did I mention wine?, laughter, phone calls, shared dinners, and surprise homemade lunches at school later have made us the friends we are today. Plus an ironic phone call in the middle of my first date with David (story at the end of the wedding for anybody interested :) )
Officiant
Sam Lewis (yes, that's how he goes by. Calling him solely by his first name doesn't feel right) is a true gem who always sees the best in everyone. He is an expert dog dad, walking companion, wine connoisseur, dancer, and card writer. Throughout the difficult transition back to life after the Peace Corps, Sam Lewis became my dearest friend after my re-arrival in Ann Arbor. He expresses an uncanny amount of compassion and thoughtfulness towards others, making him a perfect officiant on our special day.
