Things To Do

Seacoast of NH

Portsmouth, NH has plenty to do, some highlights include the historic Strawbery Banke Museum, the lively Market Square area, scenic Prescott Park, and the waterfront, which is perfect for a stroll and for harbor cruises out to the Isles of Shoals. For food and nightlife, some of our Portsmouth favorites are Surf (our first date), Louie’s, Cure and Mamma Luca, we also love catching a show at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club or The Music Hall. Over in Kittery, Maine, there are lots of great local eats, one of our favorites is Anju Noodle Bar, we then like to visit the speakeasy Wallingford Dram.

Boston

If you have some extra time to explore, Boston has so much to offer! You can walk the Freedom Trail, visit Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, check out the Seaport District, or spend time in Cambridge and Harvard Square. Amanda especially recommends visiting Boston’s North End, where she used to live and loved wandering through the Italian markets. One of her all-time favorite stops is Mike’s Pastry, and honestly, you really can’t go wrong with the restaurants in that neighborhood. She also works in Back Bay and loves taking walks through Beacon Hill and the Public Garden, two of her favorite spots in the city. For some classic Boston fun, you could hop on a Duck Tour, visit the New England Aquarium, or, if the timing works out, catch a Red Sox or Bruins game.

Butternut Farm

195 Meaderboro Road, Farmington, NH 03835

Butternut Farm is one of our favorite spots to visit in the fall. If you’re looking for a classic New England autumn activity, they offer pick-your-own apples with a great variety to choose from. And no visit is complete without trying their apple cider donuts — they are truly the best!

Hiking Adventure

Blue Job Mountain Loop - This loop travels to the rocky top of Little Blue Job. From this point, there are views of Mount Washington on a clear day. You will also pass a small pond before heading up to the top of Blue Job Mountain. At this point, there is also a fire tower, one of 16 actively maintained towers in the state. Blue Job is the second highest point in the Blue Hill chain of mountains.

Northwoods Brewing Company

1334 1st New Hampshire Turnpike, Northwood, NH 03261

Northwoods Brewing Company is a meaningful spot for us, as it was a place where Matteo and Amanda would meet for a date during the week while he was making the two-hour drive to Amanda’s house. They have a great selection of drinks, amazing food, and you really can’t go wrong with a Cruller.
