This is where we hiked on our first date!
Great place for the kids or kid at heart! Fossils were discovered here, right next to Sarah’s high school. They continue to make new discoveries of prehistoric creatures — so far a rhino, saber tooth cat, mammoth, red panda, taper, and most recently a giant flying squirrel (relatively giant…it’s the size of a house cat).

Mediterranean food in downtown Johnson city — where we had dinner on our first date
The Tweetsie Trail is a rails-to-trails project traversing the former East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad right-of-way between Johnson City and Elizabethton. A gradual tread of packed rock, the 9.6-mile trail provides opportunities for walking, running, and biking in a beautiful, natural setting. The railroad was known as the “Tweetsie,” a reference to the sound of its steam whistles.
Best pretzel and cheese dip ever. London fog latte goes great with their highly adored glazed donuts.
Right next to King Commons park. Always good beer, usually a food truck and cute dogs there too.
Where we met playing bar trivia
Best brunch place! But also has amazing burgers, sushi, and more.
Might be a food truck on site.
