Washington Irving's resting place — the author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is buried here alongside Andrew Carnegie and William Rockefeller. The cemetery is filled with grand gilded-age mausoleums and headstones dating to the 1700s. Peaceful, beautiful, and surprisingly moving in late May greenery. A must. Four generations of Rockefellers called this hilltop estate home. Rockefeller State Park Preserve
