Every great romance has an iconic beginning. Ours started… at a WSU frat party in 2016. Stasia was not feeling up to going out that night, but after some classic college peer pressure, she ended up at Matt’s fraternity—where Matt was thriving in peak frat-boy glory. Stasia had zero interest in Greek life, but she was absolutely down for the party. The stars aligned and their paths crossed, but it wasn’t exactly fireworks at the start. The real turning point came a couple days later, when Stasia sent Matt an unsolicited Snapchat photo of Scout, her 20-pound black cat who resembled a miniature panther. And just like that, Matt was hooked. (He didn’t even like cats at the time—but he did have a soft spot for the weird girl.) Soon after, Matt came over to Stasia’s apartment to hang out. Then he came back the next day. And the next. And basically never left. A few months later he officially moved in with Stasia and Scout, who tolerated him with minimal judgment. Not long after, they added their Chiweenie, Kiwi, to the mix. After surviving a legendary WSU “victory lap” or two, they finally graduated together in May 2020.
