South Congress
South Congress is one of our favorite spots in the city. Browse the boutiques, stop by Joann's Fine Foods for a margarita, and pop into Tecovas for the perfect pair of boots. Catch some live music at White Tiger or grab some tacos at Guero's taco bar.
Terry Black's Barbecue
We love Terry Black’s BBQ! Their beef ribs are our absolute favorite. The creamed corn is the perfect side, and you have to save room for the banana pudding. The line may seem long but it moves fast.
Barton Springs Pool & Zilker Park
Considered the "crown jewel" of Austin, Barton Springs Pool is a three-acre natural swimming hole located right in the heart of Zilker Park. Fed by underground springs, the water stays a refreshing 68–70 degrees year-round, making it the ultimate local escape from the Texas heat. Zilker Park is also a fantastic place to walk around. You can explore the Great Lawn, visit the Botanical Gardens, or hop on the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail for some of the best unobstructed views of the Austin city skyline.
Texas State Capitol
Did you know Austin is capital of the Lone Star State? It’s hard to miss the iconic granite dome—you truly can’t travel anywhere in the city without seeing it on the horizon. Step inside to take a tour of the Texas State Capitol and immerse yourself in the grand history of Texas. Tours generally run every hour, offering a deep dive into the architecture and stories that shaped the state.
Rainey Street Historic District
For an experience that is "pure Austin," head to the Rainey Street Historic District. This quirky neighborhood features historic 1920s bungalows that have been converted into trendy bars and eateries, making the whole street feel like a giant backyard party. Don't miss Banger’s Sausage House for house-made sausages and a massive tap wall. If you’re feeling adventurous, grab a "Manmosa"—a giant mug that holds an entire bottle of champagne!
The Driskill Hotel
Built in 1886, The Driskill is the oldest operating hotel in Austin and a true Texas landmark. Located at the corner of 6th and Brazos, this Romanesque palace is as luxurious as it is historic. Even if you aren't staying the night, it is worth a visit to admire the opulent marble lobby and grand stained-glass dome. It is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail!
The White Horse
We love hitting up the White Horse for a little two-stepping, sorry no line dancing in Austin. It’s such a fun spot to dance, sip a drink, and soak up that real Austin honky-tonk vibe. Stick around East 6th Street to visit other amazing bars like Austin Beer Garden, Whistlers or Latchkey.
