Matt picked Sadie up from her apartment for their first date which included a hike at Red Mountain State Park, dinner at Little Donkey, and a drive-in movie with Buccee's icees. During their walk at Red Mountain, about 20 minutes after Matt and Sadie had met, the bottom fell out of the sky. They ran the mile back to his truck, dodging lightning but unavoidably getting soaked. Their date continued after going back to their places and changing into dry clothes. They both agree that it was the best and most memorable first date of their lives and have very fond memories of that day!

Matt and Sadie had plans to take couples photos with their close friend Anna for her photography business. Little did Sadie know, Matt had been coordinating with Anna behind the scenes to make this couples photo shoot into a proposal shoot! This was the perfect cover to get Sadie dressed up and in front of a camera without raising any suspicions. Matt had Anna suggest Red Mountain State Park (where our first date was) as the location for the photo shoot. Matt was very nonchalant about the event, so Sadie had no idea that it was going to happen that day. After about 40 minutes of taking photos and laughing, according to the plan, Anna suggested that Matt and Sadie walk down a wooded path so she could get pictures of them walking together from behind. While walking, Matt told Sadie everything he loved about her and how thankful he was for her presence in his life. Sadie also shared her feelings of affection for Matt during this walk. Matt is constant in his affirmation of Sadie, so she still had no idea that he was about to propose until he got down on one knee and asked if she would marry him! Sadie started jumping for joy and said YES! Anna captured this joyful moment on camera and some of their pictures can be found on this website.
