A tale as old as time: girl likes boy on Hinge, boy reaches out, months later girl responds. Like many modern dating stories this one started on an app. Rebecca, in her usual outgoing manner, sent the first like over. After Matt returned the gesture with a masculine response (something about plants, we think), it took several weeks and missed date-attempts to finally meet at a Tatte in Boston. After a shorter than expected coffee date, the two hit it off and eagerly scheduled another date – this time to go ice skating and get pizza. Little did Rebecca know Matt would come on strongly with his own skates in hand. But Matt claims he knew then she was the one when she muscled them past the block-long line outside of Regina’s Pizza straight to the counter where she could show off one of her favorite North End staples. Dates became more and more frequent, and everyone knew things were getting serious when Matt mentioned hints of “this girl” to his family *gasp*. The two would meet each other’s friends and family and before long set out to travel the country and the world. They went to Charleston, Colorado, Aruba, and Belize, before taking the leap and moving into their current home in Brookline. Fast forward to November 2023, on the way to meet some friends, plans were diverted and the two set off to visit the Boston Athenaeum. When they arrived and ventured up to the top floor, the two walked out on a balcony to overlook the city and found a handful of memories laid out in front of them. Matt quickly dropped to a knee and after an “Are you? ...Yes!” it was decided. Today, Rebecca and Matt are preparing to celebrate this special milestone with their family and friends on the Connecticut Shoreline. Until then, the two will be together in Brookline, probably working on a puzzle, counting down the days!
