Update 6/23: Welcome Drinks for Out-of-Town Guests is ON

Hello! The Beer Garden has informed us that it will be open this evening and we've decided to proceed with our Welcome Drinks for Out-of-Town Guests in the hope that the weather will hold (aka, only light to moderate rain). Our event event space is covered, so if it's only lightly or moderately raining, we should be ok. However, there is still a not insignificant chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight, so if it ends up storming or pouring, we DO NOT expect you to come out in that. One thing to note is that summer storms on the East Coast can blow through very quickly, so if it's storming and pouring at 8, by 8:30 it may have totally stopped. Anyway, we'll be there and we hope to see you, but use your best judgement and no pressure at all if you just don't feel like going out in the rain (we know that's not super appealing to most people). Regardless, we'll see you at the wedding on Satuday! Also, if plans change and the Beer Garden ends up cancelling at any point, we'll post an update here and send out an email!

Rain Plans!

Hi all! As you may be aware, the forecast is predicting rain (and some thunderstorms) for Friday and Saturday. Bummer, but we've got rain plans for all wedding events, and a thunderstorm plan for 2 out of 3 events. Check out the plans below! Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner on 6/23: Ruth Fink (Matt's amazing mom) has worked a miracle and we were able to move these events inside Le Virtue. So if you're in the wedding and/or were invited to the rehearsal dinner, just head inside the restaurant and let them know you're here for our event (scheduled under Ruth Fink). Welcome Drinks for Out-of-Town Guests on 6/23 This event is scheduled to be in a covered outdoor event space at the PHS Pop-Up Beer Garden at 1438 South St. The event manager has let us know that the Beer Garden will make a call on Friday morning as to whether it will open that evening given the chance of thunderstorms in the forecast. If the Beer Garden is closed, our welcome drinks will unfortunately be cancelled. If the Beer Garden will be open, then Matt and I will make a call that afternoon about whether we think it's safe to go forward with the event. We'll let you know via this website and via email. Wedding Ceremony and Reception on 6/24 The wedding and reception are on regardless of weather! The rain plan is for the ceremony to take place inside the reception tent. If it is unsafe for us to be in the tent due to thunder or lightening, we will temporarily move inside Cope House until the weather has passed. **Please be sure to bring an umbrella with you to the wedding because depending on where you park on Station Road, it may be a bit of a walk to Cope House/the wedding site.**

Getting to the Venue

The best way to get to the venue is by car (unfortunately, there aren't great public transit options to get there). For those driving to the venue, there will be parking on site--please see below for our Travel Note on parking. For guests who need transportation to the venue from Center City, please see the Shuttle option discussed below.

Parking at the venue

When you're approaching the Arboretum on Awbury Road, you will be directed turn off on Station Road to park. There isn't a parking lot-- rather, cars will park along the side of the road. We've been informed that there is ample parking along Station Road.

Shuttle

Shuttle from the Notary Hotel to the Venue and Back

June 24, 2023 3:15 pm - 10:00 pm

For guests who need transportation to the venue, there will be a 48-person shuttle (read: big yellow school bus) leaving from the Notary Hotel at 3:15pm to take guests to the venue. If there's more people than spots on the shuttle, we'll be providing an Uber code to those who couldn't get on! At the end of the night the shuttle will take folks back to the Notary.

Getting Around Philly

Center City-- Philly's downtown-- is very walkable! The two hotels where we've reserved rooms are in Center City, and the "Things to Do and Places to Eat" section of our website has a number of recommendations for this area. Uber and Lyft are easy to get in Center City and other neighborhoods. Cabs have become a bit harder to come by since COVID, but you can still get one fairly easily in the Rittenhouse Square shopping area on Walnut Street, or on Broad Street, especially in the area right around City Hall. Philly's public transit system is SEPTA and it consists of two subway lines, a network of bus and trolly lines, and regional rail trains. As an FYI, it's not the most user-friendly transit system, but it will be a Philly experience for sure.
