From teens teasing-as-flirting in AP Psychology to college kids grappling with our daunting and unknowable futures, and finally, to adults who found unquestioned and unwavering support in each other, we’ve known and loved each other longer than we haven’t. We first crossed paths in middle school but didn’t truly connect until tenth grade. Matt recalls teasing Kim and her friends in the lunchroom, while Kim remembers meeting in AP Psychology class. What started as playful teasing turned into a lasting connection that continued to grow and evolve over two decades. Our friendship blossomed over AIM chats, late-night talks, movie nights, and spontaneous drives around town. Kim was always quick to rave about Matt’s amazing hugs (seriously, the best!) and often "borrowed" his hoodies for comfort. With similar friend groups, we spent a lot of time together, and though there was undeniable chemistry, the timing just wasn’t right. Yet, both of us always felt an innate trust, understanding, and comfort in each other—a thread of love that braided itself through the rest of our lives. As the years passed, we stayed connected through Facebook Messenger and texts. Whenever we reconnected, it felt like no time had passed. In 2022, Kim reached out to see if Matt was attending their 20th high school reunion. We decided to skip the event and have our own personal reunion since all we really wanted was to see each other. That meet-up at a Celtic festival in Havre de Grace, MD, reignited our spark. Heartfelt confessions led to Matt asking Kim to be his girlfriend, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. A year later, our first vacation together became the perfect backdrop for Matt’s proposal. Our love has always felt like something rediscovered instead of grown; something intended, maybe carried over from lives past. Something timeless and unending. Most people truly come to know their life partners after they’ve been married. We’ve been lucky to truly know each other even before we were Husband and Wife. In August of 2024, at 40, we officially committed to something that we unofficially committed to at 16. And on August 10th, 2025, we would love for you to come and celebrate that with us.
