Flight

BWI, DCA, and IAD

Washington, DC is served by three airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is metro accessible by the yellow/blue lines, just outside of downtown DC; Dulles International Airport (IAD) is accessible via connection to a bus shuttle and the silver line metro in Dulles, Virginia; Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) can be reached via MARC train or connection via bus and metro's green line. Alternatively, you can Lyft/Uber to downtown DC, which will cost approximately $15 from DCA, $50 from IAD, or $60 from BWI (all assuming no traffic or surging).

Lodging

DC

Our city is currently in the midst of one of the largest affordable housing crises in the nation. Heavy use of short-term rental services such as Airbnb have disproportionately negative impacts on low-income families, families and communities of color, and struggling young professionals (like us!). We encourage you to explore the full breadth of lodging options available to you in this vibrant city, especially hotels which offer historic charm, convenient locations, and union labor. https://www.fairhotel.org/

Travel Note

Wedding day transport

Downtown parking (especially near the monuments where our ceremony is held) is nearly nonexistent. If you have a rental car, leave it at your accommodation! We highly recommend taking a Taxi or Lyft to and from the ceremony site and encourage reaching out to a member of the wedding party in advance if you have questions. While the idea of a traditional taxi may seem outdated, it can often be cheaper than a Lyft/Uber when traveling short distances. Additionally, taxi drivers in the District of Columbia have better insurance, safety regulations for passengers, and union representation.

Rental Car

Driving

For convenience, affordability, and the environment, we highly encourage guests to take advantage of Washington's public transportation system. In addition to being an extremely walkable city, bike-share stations are available throughout the city -- give it a try! You won't get stuck in traffic, pay DC gas prices, or regret your life choices leading up to that point. https://www.wmata.com https://www.capitalbikeshare.com
