March, 2020, is remembered by most of the world as the unprecedented, seismic event that became known as Hannah and Matt meeting for the first time. The oncoming COVID-19 pandemic cancelled a concert they both had plans to attend; alas, an eclectic group of friends-of-friends got together anyways that night, and the rest is history. Aside from the obvious shared love of Spanish, salsa dancing, and bonding over Hannah's inability to make a kill in the game "Murder in the Dark," it was quite clear that night that there was some chemistry between the two of them. Afterwards, Hannah and Matt went on a few dates, socially-distanced and spaced out over several months, and needless to say, mandated quarantine was not the best time to begin a new relationship. More importantly, the Lord had better plans in store. After deciding it wasn't the right time to pursue things romantically, they built a friendship over the next two years: seeing one another in group settings, at many weddings of mutual friends, joining a co-ed softball team, and even agreeing to run a half marathon together. Then, as they say, the ice show changed everything. Hannah invited Matt to one of her student's ice shows (thanks, Lexie!), where the two of them laughed and talked for hours and hours. They both deeply enjoyed the other's company, and they left the night joyfully surrendering to the Lord whatever this obvious chemistry could mean. From that point on, the tides began to turn. Hannah and Matt both were drawn to one another in groups, captivated in conversations with one another, and creatively sought out ways to spend more time together - even as a platonic wedding date (thanks, Kelsey + John!) Finally, there was no more denying it: there was more in store for them and their friendship had beautifully blossomed into something more. While dating, they shared many adventures: summiting mountain peaks, pushing one another to new limits, and learning to be a team together (muy bien, equipo, muy bien). This brings us to Hannah and Matt's wedding day. As they embark on the journey of marriage ahead of them, may you, dear reader, continue to encourage and champion them....and, of course, celebrate accordingly.
