Matt and Felicia met in October of 2016. Felicia joined Matt’s group at General Motors as part of a rotational program. Being new to the area, Matt and Felicia both joined a GM bowling league as a fun way to meet people. As luck would have it, they were both placed on the same team!

Matt and Felicia's first date was at an ice sculpture festival in Plymouth, Michigan. Over the following year, they enjoyed teaching each other their hobbies, traveling, camping, cooking delicious food, and their ongoing mission of seeing the Northern Lights!

Matt's plan evolved over the course of their first day in Yosemite. He told Felicia that he wanted to take pictures of Half Dome from Glacier Point. They staked out their spot and waited for the sunset for over an hour. Meanwhile, a National Park Ranger started a Ranger Talk for kids on the geology of the park. Felicia was totally in to it and Matt was absorbed with taking pictures of a beautifully illuminated Half Dome. About 20 minutes into sunset, Matt told Felicia that he wanted to take pictures from somewhere else. Felicia almost said she wanted to stay and listen to the rest of the Ranger Talk, but just decided to follow along. They went away from the other sunset spectators. There, among the beautiful pines and magnificent mountains, Matt proposed! The rest is history!
