COVID-19 and how it affects our wedding plans...

Things are pretty crazy right now and we want to make sure everyone stays healthy!

Due to COVID-19, we are postponing our celebration with out friends and family. We still plan on getting married with a much smaller group of people on June 20, 2020. Please do not take this personally if you are not invited to this intimate gathering. It is not our goal to single anyone out. We are trying to keep in mind the health and safety of all of our loved ones during this pandemic. We do not want anyone to get hurt (or worse) due to something preventable. It is for this reason that we are asking you to join us next year on June 20, 2021 for a vow renewal and reception. We will treat this as a standard wedding, as we are not able to have a regular wedding this year. Please understand we love each and every one of you, and we care about your future. We will attempt to make the ceremony viewable via livestream and will send out text messages, emails, etc. with the link. Let me know your preferred method of communication and I will make sure to get it to you!

HOW WE MET

Sculpture and Ceramics: Where We Found Love

We had known of each other since middle school, but hadn't really met until sophomore year of high school (2013). We both had signed up for Sculpture and Ceramics. I came from the other side of the school to that class, so I was also one of the last ones to file in. I spotted Matt, the only person in the room I knew by name, and knowing he was a class clown, he would probably be pretty fun to sit next to. I was right, of course. Sculpture and Ceramics happened to be at the end of the day, so each time we came to class we would share memes and events that happened that day, and each day we liked each other a little more. The teacher frequently got after us for talking in class, too. On the very last day of school, after we both had gotten home, Matt admitted over text that he liked me, and I reciprocated the feeling. And, as they say, the rest is history.

The Proposal

Christmas Day (2017)

Matt had been planning this with my family for months. I had no idea. I was sincerely impressed they were able to keep it a secret that long. It was Christmas morning, we had just wrapped up unwrapping presents, and my dad pulls out his camera and starts filming. I was pretty confused. Seemed like a standard Christmas to me. Then I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and Matt was kneeling. "This is it, oh my god," I thought. Me, in my pajamas, not even showered yet. Him, already showered and dressed for the day. Both of us being filmed, only one of us was embarrassed (it was me). He held up a ring that I recognized. It was one I showed him months ago on Etsy. He admitted later that it took him several hours to find again to order it. I had no idea he was going to propose to me, let alone with my dream engagement ring. Of course I was tearing up when I said yes. Everyone was happy, some crying, and we hugged. It was fitting considering my parents had gotten engaged on Christmas Eve over 20 years prior. So not only do we share a similar engagement date, but we will also share a similar wedding date too! After I said yes, I got showered and dressed and went outside in the snow to take some pictures. It was all pretty picturesque.
