Claire and Matt first met in 8th grade and then started to become good friends when they both attended Horizon High School. Their friend group hung out all the time and remained close throughout the years, which always seemed to pull them back together. In 2020 Matt's baseball season got cancelled, so he drove back home to Arizona and had finally decided to ask Claire on a date. He took her to sushi knowing it was her favorite (even though he doesn't like it), they talked forever, and the rest was history! They started hanging out more and more with Matt cooking for Claire and bringing her flowers every week. They went from good friends to falling in love with each other and he ended up asking her to be his girlfriend in October of 2020!

Matt had planned a trip to visit LA while Claire was living there for work. She thought they were celebrating Valentine's Day early (because of baseball season starting soon) and he took her to lunch in Malibu at Geoffrey's. After that, he said he had one more surprise for her. They were driving up the canyon and he told her that he wanted to watch the sunset at the top. Matt had rented a house overlooking the ocean and surprised Claire with flowers and candles everywhere. Some of their family members were there and it was the most special weekend ever!
