A few years ago, my friend Christine encouraged me to write a list of what I wanted in a partner and pray. At the very top of my list, I wrote, “Christian, a God-fearing man.” A few weeks later, I met Matt. When I asked him to describe himself, the first thing he said was, “a God-fearing individual.” On our first date, we went to three different beaches. At the end of the day, I asked Matt which beach he liked the most. He paused for a moment before saying, “I don’t really like the beach… there’s too much sand.” I thought that might be the last time I’d see him. I’m grateful to have found a partner who also enjoys traveling and going on adventures together. Over the past few years, we’ve traveled to Singapore, Hawaii, Bali, New York, and Tokyo. Soon, we’ll be visiting my extended family in China before our wedding! Matt’s proposal was sweet and unexpected, just like our love. He set up flowers and a “Marry Me” sign on the beach, along with a handwritten note that he read aloud. As Matt started to cry, I also began to tear up—until I suddenly realized I didn’t have my nails done! We both laughed through the happy tears, and in that moment, everything felt perfectly right. At the heart of our relationship is our shared faith. From the very beginning, Matt’s biggest hope was to find someone with a strong relationship with God, and in Angie, he found just that—along with kindness, patience, a great sense of humor, love of animals, joy of eating, and an ambition that inspires him daily. Some of our favorite things to do together include hiking, painting, watching Chinese wuxia dramas, and playing with Zoro and Simba. And while we’ve had plenty of exciting trips, we know that no matter where we go, it will always be an adventure because we have each other. Matt’s name means “Gift of God,” and mine means “Messenger of God.” Together, our story is a testament to faith, love, and God’s perfect plan: "I have found the one whom my soul loves." — Song of Solomon 3:4 We can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
