Setup will begin at 4:00 PM, and chairs will be available shortly after. We highly encourage guests to arrive early to allow time for parking, walking over, and exploring the beautiful Frick grounds and gardens before the ceremony begins. It’s a stunning setting, and we’d love for you to enjoy it. If weather permits, the ceremony will take place outdoors in the Orchard, so please plan accordingly. The ceremony will commence promptly at 5:00 PM. Please plan to be seated no later than 4:45 PM so we can begin right on time.
If weather permits, our ceremony will take place outdoors in the Orchard. In the event that the weather isn’t in our favor, we will move indoors to the Community Center space. Proper signage will be posted, and Frick staff will be available to help guide guests to the correct location. If outdoors: Please plan accordingly for weather (sun, heat, or cooler evening temperatures).
September in Pittsburgh is typically beautiful, with mild and comfortable temperatures. You can expect daytime temperatures generally in the low to mid-70s. As the sun begins to set, it may begin to cool slightly, especially if we are outdoors in the Orchard. We recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap for the evening just in case. Please also keep in mind that the Orchard is a grassy area, so appropriate footwear (flats, wedges, block heels, etc.) is a great idea.
We are not providing transportation between the ceremony and reception venues. Guests are welcome to drive or use a rideshare service if preferred. Both locations have parking available (please see the parking questions below for details).
The Frick is approximately 20 minutes east of downtown Pittsburgh at the corner of Penn and South Homewood avenues in Point Breeze. The entrance is located on Reynolds Street where parking is available in a free lot. From downtown Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Airport or PA Turnpike, the Frick is reached via the Parkway East (I-376). Exit at #77–Edgewood Swissvale (take the Edgewood ramp), follow Braddock Ave. to Penn Ave. and turn left. Continue four blocks and turn left on South Homewood Ave. Proceed one long block to traffic circle (Reynolds St.) and follow signs to parking lot entrance.
The Elks Lodge has a parking lot available for guests. Because the lot may not hold all vehicles, additional street parking will be available in the surrounding area. Kindly note: Please do not park in the Orthodox Church parking lot. We want to be respectful of our neighbors and their space.
We kindly ask that you keep phones and cameras put away during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present with us. You are more than welcome (and encouraged!) to arrive a little early, explore the grounds, and take photos before everything begins. The views are beautiful and we’d love for you to enjoy them. During the ceremony itself, we’ll be having an unplugged moment. Our photographers have the best angles covered, and it’s much more expensive to Photoshop phones out of pictures… don’t be that person 😉
We completely understand that schedules can be complicated! If you’re only able to attend the ceremony or the reception (but not both), that’s absolutely okay, we’re just grateful to celebrate with you in any capacity. When completing your RSVP, please make sure it accurately reflects which portion(s) you’ll be attending so we can plan seating, catering, and logistics accordingly.
We are registered at Target and Williams Sonoma. Your presence is the greatest gift, but if you feel inclined, we are grateful for anything from our registry.
