It started with a compliment about Alexis’ shoes — smooth, right? Then months went by with no follow-up. But when Matt and Alexis finally reconnected, the timing was perfect, the conversation effortless, and suddenly it all made sense. Turns out, good things really do take time (and great footwear).

When Matt decided it was time to pop the question, he knew he had a few hurdles to clear: family needed to be there, Alexis had to be dressed up, and a photographer had to be on-site — without raising suspicion. So, with the help of her family (and her cousin Logan, the resident beekeeper), he came up with a plan. Logan told the family that the Northwest Indiana Beekeepers Association wanted to photograph the hives on the Albertson farm for a story. The entire family was in on it — well, almost everyone (sorry, Aunt Cindy!). On the day of, the weather was perfect, everyone arrived on time, and the “bee photographer” played her role flawlessly. When the moment was right, Matt got down on one knee — and the rest is sweet as honey.
