You sure can! Downtown Savannah and the Starland District have an open container law, but only for plastic cups. No glass, bottles or cans.
While Savannah is an excellent city for walking and biking during the day, we recommend using caution when walking or biking at nighttime, especially when outside of the downtown area. Do not walk in Forsyth Park after dark, it is not safe.
No, even from the airport! If you're staying in the downtown area you can walk or bike everywhere, and even take a bike taxi. Uber's are cheap and prevalent, plus parking downtown is a nightmare.
While there are parking garages available, Savannah is mainly street parking, first come first serve! Every parking space has a specific number which can be paid either through the parking app (which we recommend downloading in advance) or at a digital parking meter. Be wary of street sweeping days (stated on signs), tickets are hefty! Link to the parking app: https://www.savannahga.gov/2340/ParkSavannah
Downtown is the area between River Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Liberty Street and Broad Street. If you are within this perimeter you'll find walking/biking/free cabs/food delivery nice and easy!
Starland District is juuust south of the historic downtown area, and is an artsy neighborhood bustling with local shops and restaurants. While it is very easy to get around, an Uber might be required to travel to downtown (it will be $7 or less, trust us). The free cab service offered by the City of Savannah may not travel to this area.
