We’re getting married!

We met when Matt was going to medical school with my older brother in Duluth, MN. I attended the white coat ceremony to celebrate the start of my brother’s med school journey, but a cute guy caught my eye when he walked across the stage and they announced his name. I put a little check mark next to Matt’s name and added him on Facebook that night (creepy? worth it!) and we started talking a short time later. For our first date and first time officially meeting, Matt had chocolate covered strawberries delivered to me at college with a note that said “Med prom?” Of course, I said yes to being his date and we became official a couple of weeks later on February 26, 2017! We dated long distance for a couple of years - lots of trips between Duluth and St. Bonifacius when we were both doing school! After my graduation from nursing school, I got a job in the cities and Matt’s clinical rotations started in the cities. We ended up living in apartments just 5 minutes down the road from each other and it was so much fun finally being done with long distance. Matt graduated from medical school in May of 2020 and matched into University of Buffalo, New York’s urologic surgery residency program (5 year program). So we started our biggest adventure yet and moved 14+ hours away from Minnesota. Even with being so far away from what we thought of as “home”, we’ve realized it’s more about who you’re with and not just where you live that makes a place home. During a trip back to Minnesota to see our families, Matt proposed on November 11, 2020 and I said YES! We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone - cheers to the start of forever!
