We have known each other most of our lives but became best friends over the course of about 3 years. Everyone kept asking us why we weren't dating and truthfully our answer was always, "because she/he is family". Some people, including his dad, thought we already were dating. That was an interesting story for another time. We both had dated other people but it wasn't until one of our best friends started asking the hard questions, we didn't even think about dating each other. We then had a long conversation ourselves and realized we didn't want to date anyone else. We didn't want to spend another day without each other. We wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. The rest is history.
It started as a "normal" date night that was all a surprise to Shea. All she knew was that they were going to dinner and Matt had planned it all. Matt took her to Farmer and Frenchman and then had some fun conversations a long the way about dreams and goals; past, present and future. After dinner Matt told Shea to put a blindfold on as he drove to an unknown location (to Shea). When he finally stopped he got out of the truck, did some shuffling around outside, in 8 degree weather, and finally came to the passenger side and told Shea to take off her blindfold. When she did she realized they were at the family farm where they took one of their first pictures together standing at the corner of what will one day be their house. He asked her to dance (to a song she didn't hear one word of) and when the song was finished he said, "I have one last dream. My dream is that you won't be my girlfriend anymore but that you'll be my wife." Shea said yes and now here we are about to walk down the aisle!!
