Bring your swimsuits to enjoy the beach while in town! The Cocoa Beach Courtyard and Hampton have beach access, but if you're staying closer to the zoo we recommend accessing the beach through Lori Wilson or Cherie Down parks for free parking.
The best way to enjoy the nature and wildlife in the area is a kayak or standup paddleboard rental! Our top recommendation would be a guided tour of the Thousand Islands on the Banana River. You may see dolphins and manatees, and will pass between mangrove islands. There are many kayak rental and tour companies in the area - here's a link to one we've used before.
Cocoa Village is a nice area full of shops and restaurants. Stop at Rec 225, a fun board game bar, or Village Ice Cream for a sweet treat.
On top of being our wedding venue, the zoo is a great place to hang out. "Boo at the Zoo" will be happening that weekend with Halloween-themed decorations and activities.
Linear Park is a 2.6 mile boardwalk passing through palmettos and oak trees. The entrance is within the Brevard Zoo parking lot, and you can get a nice view of the scenery and wildlife in the area.
Nice forests and ponds with lots of exotic birds. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1963 for the protection of migratory birds. Consisting of 140,000 acres, the refuge provides a wide variety of habitats: coastal dunes, saltwater marshes, managed impoundments, scrub, pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammocks.
