Our Story

The story of how Melissa and Matt met is a tale as old as time - on your smart watch or phone. They met online, Bumble to be exact, and reconnected on Hinge. Matt claims he knew he wanted to marry Melissa first, but little did he know, Melissa knew she wanted to marry him on their second first date (iykyk). The two met at Revel to enjoy some wine and possibly get dinner - you know, depending on the conversation over drinks. Good conversation, dinner is a yes. Bad conversation, dinner is a no. The conversation wasn't just good. It was fun! Matt pretended he didn't know his friend across the bar and asked Melissa if she thought she could read people well. When she answered yes, Matt asked her if she thought the man across the bar was British. She responded in the negative. Matt then called across the bar and asked the man, who proceeded to wave and say, "what's up Matt?" if he was British. Matt's friend Graeme answered "yes." Melissa hadn't been bamboozled, but in a fun way! Now, if you're wondering if this is the same Revel where they celebrated their first Valentine's Day as a couple, countless date nights, happy hours, and their engagement, you're right. If you stood on Revel's back patio, there's a good chance you stood in the very spot where they got engaged! But we've digressed... Clearly, the two went to dinner after Revel. While they were waiting at Diablo Burger, they chatted about their mutual love for food. Matt said he loved pickles - Melissa said the same. Matt went on to tell Melissa he had made his own pickles before, in different flavors. While Melissa found Matt's love for food and cooking charming, that wasn't what stole her heart. Shortly after their pickle conversation, their food arrived. Much to Melissa's horror and dismay, there were no pickles on her plate! In response and without hesitation, Matt offered Melissa the entire ramekin of pickle chips on his plate. When she tried to decline, he insisted. He was thoughtful, considerate, and willing to share all of his pickles with her, despite his mutual love for them. In that moment, she thought to herself, "I think I'm going to marry this man." From there, the pickle chips fell perfectly into place. The End
