When Lindsey signed up to walk dogs on Rover she had no idea what was coming her way. It wasn’t long before she got her very first dog sitting request in November. Matt joined Rover in search of a sitter to watch Annie during the Christmas holiday. Lindsey happened to be the first sitter Matt came across and he sent her a message...the rest is history! After the New Year, Matt and Lindsey evolved from sitting on a bench at the dog park every afternoon to spending hours walking on the Pensacola beaches. After two weeks of walks and doggie play dates, Matt knew this was turning into something more. On Feb 1, 2019 Matt asked Lindsey to be his girlfriend. In April 2019, Matt graduated his training program and transferred to Barksdale AFB. Although long distance dating is often not easy, Matt and Lindsey made it work. Their weekend getaways brought them to New Orleans, and various other cities in LA, Dallas, camping in Mississippi, a favorite cottage in Jackson, MS, and a long weekend adventure to Hot Springs National Park. They were both able to take time off at the end of 2019 to visit Matthew’s family in California. Matt arranged for their first order of business to be a short, private trip to Yosemite National Park. On their first night, after a nice dinner in Yosemite Valley, they decided to take an evening stroll near the base of Yosemite Falls to watch the stars. Although Matthew recently had ACL surgery, he climbed down onto the ground in the pitch dark and asked Lindsey to marry him. There were a lot of tears and laughs, but eventually she said yes! They enjoyed their remaining time in Yosemite and, before leaving California, were able to sneak in trips to both Monterey and San Fransisco as a newly engaged couple. 2020 is going to be a busy year for both of us, but we are honored to be able to host our wedding in one of our favorite towns! Hot Springs serves as one of our fondest memories, and we are so excited to make it the place we say “I do”!
