Matt and Janet first crossed paths in Fayetteville, NC at Jack Britt High School. Little did they know, their paths would cross again at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2014, Matt and David organized an alternative fall break trip to New York City for Hurricane Sandy disaster relief. Janet reached out to David to ask if she could tag along and he agreed. After some time, Matt and Janet exchanged phone numbers and a first date took place at Maple View Farms where they got homemade ice cream. Now, about 6 years later, the two can't wait to tie the knot, and they're so looking forward to starting this new chapter together.

Matt proposed to Janet on September 27, 2019, in Suwannee, Florida, the home of Janet's dearly beloved grandfather, Howard Tobin. Howard was battling cancer at the time and he was able to witness the proposal before his passing. They were accompanied by close friends and family members.
