Things To Do

National Museum of the United States Army

1775 Liberty Drive, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060

Courtney's dad was a docent here since they opened. Great to go with him showing you around, or by yourselves. Free admission, free tix preferred.

Bunnyman Brewing

5583 Guinea Road, Fairfax, VA 22032

A long time favorite watering hole, no food for sale unless they have a food truck out for the night.

Smithsonian Museums & National Zoo

Washington, DC

All the Smithsonian museums and zoo are free admission and metro accessible. Recommendations include Natural History, American History, Air & Space, and National Zoo.

National Gallery of Art

Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20565

Not a member of the Smithsonian family of museums, the National Gallery is next to the Natural History Museum and always worth a stop. Free admission.

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20001

Another long time favorite of Courtney's, and another one with free admission. Don't miss the orchids or the catwalk.

Franconia-Springfield Metro Station

6880 Frontier Drive, Springfield, VA 22150

Free parking on weekends, 4.95 in the garage on weekdays, must be using either a physical SmarTrip card or digital wallet version to board/exit/exit the garage. Check the website for updates on rail delays and such before you go. Alternatively, you can also drive to Pentagon City Mall to park and pick up the metro yellow or blue line trains to downtown.

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151

$15 parking per vehicle, and it's in Chantilly, not DC. Free admission otherwise to see the collection of aircraft and spacecraft. Definitely worth the drive if you've not seen it before, and worth hitting before they potentially remove the space shuttle.
