It was 2016 - a time when shaking hands and house parties were the norm. Amanda had just moved to Dallas for a job and knew only 3 people in the city. Matt had been living in Dallas for 4 years and had a steady network of friends. During the summer of 2016, one of those friends threw a birthday party for his roommate and Matt being close friends was naturally invited. Amanda had recently reached out to that same friend hoping to meet more people in Dallas. At the party, Matt knew everyone and mingled with his friends. Amanda, just knowing the host, acted cool in the kitchen sparking up conversations with whoever was around. Matt came up to Amanda and they spoke for a little, but then Amanda had to jet for another event being the social butterfly that she is. After that encounter, Matt remembers thinking how beautiful and outgoing this girl was and hoped he would run in to her again. Matt and Amanda’s paths crossed again months later when their mutual friend (the one who hosted the original party) was moving away and had one last night out on the town. As fate would have it, Matt spotted Amanda at the same bar and went over to ask for her number. And that’s where it all began! He took her on their first date at a nearby Italian spot, where Matt picked out the finest wine and Amanda was overwhelmed by the complicated menu (can a girl just get pepperoni pizza?). That date was followed by countless others where Matt rolled out the red carpet* to win her over – and it worked! At a Cowboys game in September, they made their relationship official. Then two years later, Matt proposed on the beach at Amanda’s favorite hotel in San Diego. The next chapter of our love story will begin on October 3rd when we tie the knot in front of our friends and family. *After dating awhile, Amanda told Matt how her friend said he had “rolled out the red carpet” for her. Ever since then, Matt has referenced this and continuously brings it up when describing our love story.
