We first met at a bar meetup in Tacoma, WA, both new to town and just looking to make friends. That night, I asked Casey if she felt safe living in Tacoma. She said yes, because she had a taser. Naturally, I (in the interest of science) asked if I could be tazed… and a few weeks later, we somehow made it happen in the parking lot of a country bar. From there, we went on ski trips, rock climbed together, took road trips to Glacier National Park and the San Juan Islands, car camped under the stars, and even jumped into alpine lakes. Somewhere between the taser and the mountains, friendship turned into love.
