FAQs

The Wedding Website of Alicia Sandbakken and Mathew De Kock
We’ve included all the important details below, but if there’s anything we missed or if you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out. We’re happy to provide more information to make your trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

The RSVP deadline has passed, and we’re so excited to have everyone’s responses in! If your plans change and you’re no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust accordingly.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation includes a plus-one, we’d love for you to bring them! Please RSVP for yourself and your guest, as their name will appear under yours when you RSVP. Due to limited space, we kindly ask that only those formally invited on your wedding invitation attend.

Question

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

While we love your little ones, the venue has restrictions that prevent us from including children in the wedding. As a result, we’ve decided to make our celebration an adults-only event, with the exception of a few young family members. We hope this allows everyone to fully relax and enjoy the day, and we truly appreciate your understanding. If you require childcare during the wedding, we’re happy to assist! Let us know, and we can work with our wedding planner to arrange reputable babysitting services.

Question

Will there be any planned events before or after the wedding?

Answer

Yes! In addition to the wedding day, we’re hosting a Welcome to Portugal: Golden Hour Gathering, a Wedding After Party, and a Farewell Brunch. Thank you to everyone who RSVP’d—your responses have helped us plan accordingly! If your plans change or you’re no longer able to attend one of these events, please let us know.

Question

What should I wear to the Welcome to Portugal: Golden Hour Gathering?

Answer

The suggested attire is Coastal Chic / Smart Casual—relaxed but polished. Think linen, flowy fabrics, and sunset-inspired tones like terracotta, golden yellow, olive, blue, or white. We’ll be gathering outdoors at a rooftop bar with ocean views, so dress comfortably for the evening breeze. Need outfit inspiration? Question

What should I wear to the Wedding?

Answer

Our dress code is formal, with a style that feels elegant, rich, and timeless—perfect for a seaside celebration in Portugal. Think romantic textures, deeper tones, and elevated silhouettes. For women: A floor-length gown, midi dress, or tailored jumpsuit in fabrics like silk, satin, or chiffon. Statement accessories and dressy shoes are welcome. For men: A dark suit or tuxedo with a dress shirt and tie or bow tie. Black, navy, or grey suits are ideal with polished dress shoes. What to avoid: Please skip bright or neon colors, bold prints, and casual fabrics like cotton or denim. We're aiming for a moody, refined vibe—nothing too loud or beachy. Color palette: Our wedding colors are black, green, and blue. Shades like emerald, navy, light blue, silver, and champagne will photograph beautifully, though coordinating is totally optional. Need outfit inspiration? We’ve put together a Pinterest board (https://www.pinterest.com/aliciasandbakken/wedding-guest-style-inspiration/) with ideas to help you get a feel for the mood and style we’re envisioning. From color palettes to silhouettes, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for what to wear (and what to skip)! We'll be celebrating both indoors and outdoors, so breathable fabrics and comfortable shoes are recommended to keep you dancing all night.

Question

What should I wear to the Farewell Brunch?

Answer

The vibe is casual, comfortable, and coastal. Breezy sundresses, cute matching sets, jumpsuits, or shorts with a relaxed top are great for women. For men, polos, light button-downs, or tees with shorts or chinos are perfect. We’ll be on the rooftop of House of Wonders enjoying fresh bites and sunshine, so dress like you’re headed to brunch in a charming Portuguese town. Need ideas? Check out our Pinterest board (https://www.pinterest.com/aliciasandbakken/farewell-brunch-style/).

Question

Can I take pictures and post on social media?

Answer

We kindly ask that all guests keep their phones and cameras tucked away during our ceremony—we’re having an unplugged moment so our photographers can capture the magic without distractions. After we say "I do," snap away! We’d love for you to share your photos and tag us so we can relive the celebration through your eyes. You can find us on Instagram as @mathew_with_1_t and @aliciasandbakken

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift, and we’re so grateful to celebrate this special moment with you! If you’d like to honor us with a gift, we have a registry available for your convenience. You can have gifts sent directly to our home to make traveling easier. For those attending the wedding, we’ll also have a wedding card box at the reception. Thank you for your thoughtfulness—we’re so excited to celebrate with you!

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Please fly into Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon, as it is the main international gateway. We recommend staying in Cascais, which is a short drive or train ride away.

Question

How do I get from Lisbon to Cascais (where we’ll be staying)?

Answer

From Lisbon Airport, you can take a taxi, private transfer, or train to Cascais. The train departs from Cais do Sodré Station and takes about 40 minutes. It’s a scenic and convenient option. Taxis and transfers are also readily available.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will take place outdoors, so you can enjoy the beautiful oceanfront scenery. The dinner and dancing will be held indoors, providing a cozy and comfortable setting for the celebration. Mid-September typically brings lovely weather, with warm days and cooler evenings. Temperatures usually range between 70–80°F (21–27°C) during the day and can dip to around 60°F (15°C) at night. We recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap for the evening, just in case.

Question

What will the schedule look like on the wedding day?

Answer

We’ve planned an amazing day to celebrate with you! Guests should plan to arrive at 4:30 PM: Ceremony: 4:30 – 5:30 PM Cocktail hour: 5:30 – 7 PM Dinner: 7:15 – 9:30 PM Cake and Sparkling Wine: 9:30 – 10 PM Dancing: 10 PM – 12 AM But the celebration doesn’t end there! After the dance wraps up, join us for an after-party in Cascais to keep the fun going. We can’t wait to celebrate all night long with you!

Question

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions/allergies?

Answer

Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or preferences (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) when you RSVP. We want everyone to enjoy the celebration, so we’ll work with the venue to ensure your needs are accommodated. Our wedding will include a variety of hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour, followed by a sit-down dinner. If you have specific requirements, we’ll make sure your meal is tailored to suit your needs. Your comfort and enjoyment are important to us, so don’t hesitate to share any concerns!

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes, there will! Cocktails will be served during the cocktail hour, wine and beer will be available during dinner, and a full open bar will be open for the dance party. Cheers to celebrating together!
