How we met

First comes school, then comes marriage

In 2014, Jewel was a new student at Southeast Highschool. Jewel met Clayton's bestfriend Kaitlin, who invited Jewel to her lunch table which allowed Jewel and Clayton to meet for the first time. Later that day, they found out they rode the same bus and exchanged numbers.

From highschool to the proposal

Jewel and Clayton started dating June 16th, 2015 and are Highschool Sweethearts! They went to both Prom's with each other and walked the stage together on graduation day in 2017. In early 2019, Jewel and Clayton moved out for the first time together and the bond became stronger. After living together for a few months, Clayton decided it was time to pop the question...

The Proposal

In early May 2019, Clayton reached out to Tim and Chrystal Eckley to get their blessing to marry their daughter. After getting their blessing, Clayton reached out to his Groomswoman, Ashley Wiggins, to get assistance in picking out the ring. Looking back, Clayton is glad that Ashley was there to keep him from making any financially irrational decisions. As things were starting to fall into place, Clayton booked a photographer to capture the big moment. On June 12th, 2019, Clayton was trying to convince Jewel to get out of the house and take their dog on a walk and almost failed. Eventually, it worked out but Clayton was so nervous he almost forgot the ring. They arrived at Brandywine Falls at about 7pm and walked down towards the waterfall. As they approached the final steps, Jewel had refused to walk down due to another dog being at the bottom of the steps. Clayton was then stressing internally as the photographer was also waiting at the bottom of the steps to capture the big moment. Luckily, he was able to communicate to the photographer to follow them back since Jewel wouldn't walk down. On the way back to the car, Clayton was anxiously trying to decide on the exact moment to pop the question. After what felt like a lifetime of walking, Clayton stopped Jewel, looked her in the eyes and said "On March 8th, 2016, I told you that if you promised me prom, I'd promise you forever. I want to keep that promise. Will you marry me?".
