Tracy and Dan's Love Story

In August 2017, Tracy and her Dad, Steve, were feeding carrots to a horse named Hope’s Roar at Saratoga Race Course, a horse aptly named for the beckoning emergence of hope. Dan would eventually meet Steve at Saratoga in front of Hope’s Roar’s stall. They became friends talking almost daily and even travelling to the Preakness together. Two years later in August 2019, it was “auction weekend” in Saratoga and Dan was invited to attend a barn party at Sugar Plum Farm to celebrate their token stallion. Steve stopped by with his family before going to dinner and that is where Dan and Tracy first met. Dan and Tracy spent the next morning together questioning each other about their lives and interests and even having breakfast together at the “fancy” track kitchen. That evening Tracy and Dan saw each other again at the Fasig Tipton Yearling Auction. Through mutual friend, Fernando Abreu, they met up later that night at Gaffney’s in Downtown Saratoga. Even though Dan had to send Tracy and Fernando home in an Uber that night, they have talked every day since. Three weeks later, they met again in Saratoga and went on their first official date chaperoned by longtime Weston Family friends, Bob and Kris Edwards, to the Zac Brown Band concert.

Cont...

That was it! Dan and Tracy flew between New York and Florida every other weekend to see each other. They shared their mutual love of country music during one of their favorite weekends together in Nashville right before the COVID shutdown. After four months apart, Dan finally flew down to Florida to see Tracy and they have not left each other’s side ever since. After two summers in Saratoga, a dozen road trips up and down the East Coast, and countless nights on the beach enjoying wine together, they got engaged on December 1, 2021! Tracy’s closest friends say she waited a long time to find Dan and he waited a long time to find her.

The Proposal

It was Hanukkah starting on Monday night November 29th, before the engagement. After lighting the candles Tracy said " So where's my gift" knowing perfectly well that they usually do presents at Christmas time with Dan’s family. They both laughed and continued their way. Tuesday night Tracy lit the candles alone since Dan was out with Tracy’s Dad, Steve. The next evening after making dinner at home Tracy was worried about moving the couch because the next day a new couch was being delivered. Then all of a sudden, she said to Dan, “oh wait, we need to do Hanukkah candles.” Tracy and Dan went over and lit the candles and when they were done, Dan said, “Do you want your present” and Tracy said, “what present? I didn’t get you anything”. Dan told Tracy to sit on the couch and then came out with 2 small gift bags. Tracy than said “Wow, 2 bags! I’ll open one tonight and save the other for tomorrow since there’s 8 nights of Hanukkah.” Then Dan said, “Just open them”. Tracy proceeded to open the first gift, which was Apple AirPods and she was so excited to receive the newest version! She talked about them for a good 10 minutes because she was so excited and even made Dan try them in his ear’s because they were “so comfortable.” Then came the next bag and Tracy said to Dan “Let’s just save this one for tomorrow”, Dan insisted Tracy open it saying, “The gifts go together, you have to open it”. Tracy proceeded to take the gift out of the bag. In the gift bag was a wrapped box and in the box was another box. She opened the box and saw the ring box and her face was pure shock! Then Dan started crying and said “Tracy, will you spend the rest of your life with me?” Tracy didn’t answer for far too long that Dan said to her “So is that a Yes” and Tracy then replied with “ YES, of course!”

The Celebration

Tracy and Dan have taken everything they loved to shape a fun filled wedding celebration weekend for their friends and family encompassing what brought them together: horse racing, their favorite restaurants, a little barn party, and downtown Saratoga. We hope you enjoy the experience!
