Our Love Story

June 13th, 2020

On June 11th, 2020, Alex and Alicia met at a mutual loved one's high school graduation party. And the first thing Alex said to Alicia was....."damn getting two plates of food". So there Alicia was, with ONE full plate of food, grabbing another plate for tortillas, definitely NOT interested. As the rest of the party continued, we both decided to stay later for s'mores and drinks (shhhh the drinks were a secret at the time) and talked the night away. And just like that, we've talked everyday since. One September 12th 2020, Alex officially asked Alicia to be his girlfriend. As the beginning of our relationship began, we both found ourselves committed to different colleges. Alicia going to Sacramento State University and Alex to San Francisco State University. After a year of long distance, trips back and forth, Alex decided to apply to Sacramento State as a transfer student. He just couldn't STAND being away from Alicia.... After Alex was accepted into Sacramento State University, we finally were able to live only 10 minutes away from each other. From that point on, we've been inseparable. Throughout our five years together, we have been grateful to have shared the most wonderful life experiences together. From moving out of our parent's houses, attending college, going to endless baseball games and concerts, traveling to other states and countries, graduating college, finding our career jobs and now the excitement of being engaged. In September of 2025, Alex pitched the idea to Alicia to fly out to New York City to spend their five year anniversary. After just going on vacation to Mexico two months before, Alicia found it almost unnecessary to spend money on another vacation. After a week of Alex convincing Alicia this trip will be his treat, she gave in. The first few days of our trip, we watched a Broadway show, rode subway trains to find the best pizza slice, attended an Italian food festival, had dinner and drinks on a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty and under the Manhattan Bridge, Alicia had no clue this trip would become even more memorable. On September 15, 2025 Alex insisted on attending a fancy Michelin star restaurant that overlooks all of New York City. As Alex has always been a fan of trying the most famous restaurants, Alicia had no idea he was actually taking her to where he was planning to propose. One the way to "dinner", Alicia decided to take a 30 minute nap while Alex on the other hand, spent the car ride completely nervous practicing in his head what to say. When walking from the car to the "restaurant", Alicia noticed someone in the distance recording them and after turning the corner, music began playing, a huge red carpet with roses and a sign saying "Will You Marry Me?" appeared. Alex got down on one knee with the New York City lights in the background and asked the big question. Obviously, Alicia said a million times YES!!! We got to spend our anniversary trip as fiancé's in the city that never sleeps, beaming with excitement and love. Our love and admiration for each other has continued to grow from this point on and will forever continue after saying "I DO".
