We met while starting college at Penn State in the Fall of 2013. Kelly’s close friend from high school was Mason’s roommate. We spent most of freshman year as friends until summer was approaching and we realized we were more than that. Mason asked Kelly to be his girlfriend on June 10, 2014 at the Mt Washington overlook 🤍

It was Kelly’s birthday and one of the first Saturdays of the season with beautiful weather, so we went to Morraine State Park to let Dezi play in the water. Mason insisted we go up to this private area and he asked me to take a photo with Dezi. While taking the photo, he said there was something reflecting off of Dezi’s collar so I took a look and saw her tag that said “Will you marry my daddy?” Mason then set his phone down to keep recording and walked over to me and proposed! It was a very clear YES! He disguised the engagement party that evening as a birthday party so we got to celebrate with our family and friends a few hours later.
