Getting Married in December!

In June 2020, during the brief reopening of bars, Katey and Mason swiped right on Hinge and braved the real world. They met at Triangle Square, sharing quarantine stories over drinks before heading to Goat Hill for a pool showdown. Mason, confident in his rusty skills, was quickly humbled as Katey effortlessly crushed him in every game. Despite his pool table defeats, Mason was thoroughly impressed and captivated by Katey's competitive spirit and humor. (Mason’s take: I was not confident about my pool skills at all and I still haven’t laughed at any of Katey’s jokes.)

Since moving in together, we've navigated the delightful challenges of cohabitation. Mason has endured Katey's Christmas decorating starting November 1st, turning our home into a winter wonderland before Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, Katey has had the pleasure of enduring Mason’s enthusiastic yelling through multiple 49er seasons, turning game days into a spectacle of their own. Mason has heroically helped move two of Katey's classrooms and has loved every second of it! His support extends to the sidelines of CDM Volleyball, where he could easily be deemed the #1 Fan for the Sea Kings. On the flip side, Katey has had the opportunity to be extremely nosy during Mason’s work calls, becoming an uninvited yet enthusiastic participant in his meetings. She’s also overjoyed about co-owning what she now calls "their" Tesla, although Mason still insists it’s mostly his. Enter Dusty, stage right. Dusty has been living with us for about four months now and has truly livened up the place. He insists on taking up 2/3rds of the bed and demands the air-conditioning be on at all times, turning our bedroom into a canine comfort zone. (Mason’s take: I once called Katey after a 49er game to let her know that we were probably getting a noise complaint due to Robbie Gould’s field goal over Green Bay. Please whoever reads this help me with next classroom move.)

Mason and Katey recently got engaged in June 2024 after a wonderful four-year relationship (Katey was ready after year two, but who's counting?). He enlisted the help of Katey's mom, Garnet, to design the ring, admitting he had no clue what he was doing. Then, Mason, being the thoughtful planner he is, spoke with all of Katey's sisters—Kelly, Kasey, Torey, and Tristen—to get their blessing. When the big day to pick up the ring arrived, it turned into a family outing with Garnet, Piper, and his parents, Maureen and Martin, all in tow. It was truly a family affair that Mason was *absolutely thrilled* to finance. Next on the agenda was asking Katey's dad, John, for his blessing. After a few beers to ease the nerves, Mason casually said, "So, I'm sure you know why I asked you here." John, ever the joker, responded, "Of course, you need fantasy football advice." With a laugh and a promise for future fantasy football guidance, John gave his blessing. With the ring safely in hand and all necessary blessings secured, Mason and Katey headed to the desert for a vacation. On Friday, June 28th, Mason proposed. Both were overjoyed, and immediately called Mason's siblings, Mallory, Melinda and Matt to share the news. The unanimous response was, "It's about time" and "Finally!" Now, with the engagement excitement in full swing, Mason and Katey decided to get married this year because, well, why not? Life's too short to wait, and they are ready to continue their adventure together. (Mason’s take: Dating someone as nosy as Katey makes it hard to keep secrets. I had to keep the ring at my parents since Katey didn’t have school and randomly deep cleans things. Point proven when three days after the ring was purchased, my closet was completely reorganized.)
