This is where we had our first date :) the restaurant is smaller, so recommend making a reservation ahead of time!
Very similar to Clark's but bigger and on South Congress - also recommend making a reservation ahead of time or you can put your name down and explore South Congress while you wait!
An Austin classic for BBQ - there will be a line but promise it goes fast!
Our favorite Mexican restaurant (more interior Mexican vs. classic TexMex). Our favorite dishes are the ceviche, queso fundido, mole enchiladas, and the carne asada. This is a great spot for dinner, but definitely make a reservation ahead of time.
One of our favorite places for Mexican martinis (be careful, they're strong!). Don't let a 1-2 hour wait scare you - usually it is not that long and you can grab a drink while you wait! Recommend sitting on the back patio.
Where we went after Clark's on our first date! Really cool cocktail bar. You can get lucky just walking in but recommend reservations, especially if you're with a larger group!
6th Street is the famous bar district in Austin. Broken up into three areas - West 6th (some of our favorite bars on this street are Rustic Tap, Parlor and Yard, and Little Woodrows - fun fact Mason and Callie met at Bufords; Dirty 6 (there are lots of fun bars with live music on this strip, including Pete's Piano Bar which we highly recommend at night; however, please be careful on this part of 6th as it can get a little dicey at night); East 6th (this is where a lot of people in there late 20s and 30s are migrating to to get away from the college kids and there are a lot of cool bars like Mother's Ruin, Whistlers, Uptown Sports Club, The Lucky Duck - honestly just walk down the block and you'll find something you like!
Famous street in Austin known for some great restaurants and shopping (also where the "I love you so much" mural you have probably seen on social media is) - just a fun spot to stroll around. It is also home to one of our favorite music spots: Continental Club. Recommend hitting this at night, but there is a cover charge (about $10-$20 per person).
Another great street in Austin with some awesome restaurants like Loro, Soto, Eberly and bars, including Gibsons, Bouldin Acres (fun place during the day!), Golden Goose, and Broken Spoke
There are also several other rental companies for paddleboarding and kayaking but this is one of the most highly rated in the city!
There are several boat rental companies in Austin for Lake Austin or Lake Travis (if you are staying in the city, Lake Austin is closer!). We recommend one that comes with a captain so you can enjoy the day and not worry about needing someone to drive. One company we have used several times and really like is The Party Goat (linked).
Great spot to lay out a blanket, pack a lunch, play games and enjoy the view of the Austin skyline!
Great trail for a morning walk around the city!
Pool fed from underground springs with a temperature of about 68-70 degrees. It does cost $9 for adults and you can not bring in any food or beverages (besides water that needs to be in a re-sealable, plastic container). See website for full list of items prohibited!
If you are planning to rent a car, love wine and are interested in doing a day trip - go to Fredericksburg! Adorable town about an 1.5 hours from Austin known for its wineries. Let us know if you would like any specific recommendations!
