Alicia and Mason met in February 2017 at their workplace in Pittsburgh, PA. After becoming close friends, Alicia finally agreed to a date with Mason and they officially began their relationship in August 2017. In December 2017, Alicia and Mason decided to move in together and in May 2018 adopted their first dog Mina. In October 2020, Alicia and Mason moved to Alexandria, VA with their cats Olive and Ivory and their dog Ruby.

Mason proposed to Alicia during their nighttime walk with Ruby on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Alicia did not want to go on a walk that night, but went anyway per Mason's request. Alicia was walking a few steps ahead of Mason and Ruby, and as she turned around to continue complaining about the cold, she saw Mason holding a ring and asked if she would marry him. Ruby was unaware of the proposal and was content sniffing the fallen leaves.
