Peyton and Mason met the old fashioned way - connecting on a dating app. Upon “matching” on Catholic Match the two very quickly connected over their faith, shared values, sense of humor, love of travel, and favorite movie lines. After exchanging “novel-length” text messages, long phone calls, and closing down the restaurant on their first date, they both knew they had a special connection. Over the next year, the two continued to get to know each other via lengthy phone calls and FaceTime dates, visits to Baton Rouge and Houston, and a “meet in the middle” third date in Lafayette where, after dinner at Ruffino's, they sat on a nearby bench and talked for another few hours, not wanting to say goodbye.
Exactly one year after “matching,” Mason and Peyton traveled back to Lafayette for what Peyton thought was a dinner date to celebrate Mason's new job. Arriving at Ruffino's early, they wandered along the water to “their bench” - the same one where they sat almost a year prior. It was there, much to Peyton’s surprise, that Mason got down on one knee to ask her a very serious question - if she would spend the rest of her life with him. For Peyton, it was the easiest “yes!” ever!
Looking back, Peyton and Mason could feel the Lord's hand in their relationship from day one, and although they traveled many miles across I-10 to see each other, putting their relationship first was never a challenge. Mason’s dedication and intentional pursuit of Peyton’s heart, Peyton’s communication and honesty, and their early ability to handle life’s challenges together, ensured that they would lay the foundation for an everlasting, unconditional love. The two trusted in the Lord’s plan from the beginning and it led them to where we are today, preparing to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the Catholic Church in front of God and the people they love most in the world.
