Flight
Kansai Airport(KIX) & Itami Airport(ITM) are the closest airports to Kyoto. To get to Kyoto: Buses run from both airports. You can also take trains, but busses are easier. If your flight arrives in Tokyo bullet trains are an option too. From Itami airport, taking the bus to Kyoto station is the easiest way (50 min). From Kansai airport, take the bus (80 min) or JR airport express "Haruka" (90 min) to Kyoto station. From Kyoto station, you can take a taxi or the subway depending on your preferences.
Train
Kyoto is a compact city with two subway lines running through the center. To make getting around easier, we suggest staying near a subway station close to the center.
