After a few months of being stuck inside with limited social interaction due to a global pandemic, Martin and Marys decided to create profiles on a popular faith based dating app. No one truly knows who matched with whom first, but a spark was lit and the two connected over a deep love of God music, fitness and surviving a shortage of toilet paper. Martin and Marys talked on the phone and FaceTimed for hours every day for the next month. Eventually, the world (partially) opened back up and Martin asked Marys on a date. Marys initially postponed the date as she wanted to be sure of her feelings but eventually agreed. On the first date at a quaint French restaurant they talked more about their faith, core values, friendships and family. On the second date they had even deeper conversations about navigating life’s ups and downs. They discussed their future hopes and goals while huddled up on a park bench fighting against the cold upstate NY winds. Despite the bitter cold the two just wanted to spend more time together. On the third date they had a competitive Jenga game that Marys won followed by an equally competitive axe throwing game that Martin won. Later that night Martin asked Marys to be his girlfriend and the rest is history…
After weeks of meditation and planning Martin decided to hire a band of mariachis to play a serenata for Marys. It all happened on a windy Saturday night at her apartment. Four men appeared outside her window with their giant instruments and classic Mexican customs to perform a concert to the most beautiful flower in the world. During the first song Marys tried to hide because she didn’t know what was happening so Martin had to call and let her that the serenata was for her. It was during the last song of the night that Martin decide to make the move… spoiler- she said yes!
