Peter and Mary's story begins with a simple opening line on Hinge - "How'd you like Japan?" Peter noticed Mary's photo in a kimono from her trip to Tokyo, and it sparked a conversation that led to their first date at The Belfry in Union Square. On that first date, they immediately hit it off over drinks and conversation (mostly dominated by Mary!) Both wearing blazers, they knew it was a match. Mary later texted her stepmom that Peter was "totally normal" and she'd go on a second date. Their relationship progressed through concerts, holidays, trips away, and quiet weeknights together. Some key moments included their first kiss at Katana Kitten, becoming "official" the night before Thanksgiving, and breaking into the chapel on a trip to Peter's childhood camp, Rowe. As they navigated living in different NYC boroughs, Peter would come to Mary's UES apartment on Tuesdays after work with a bottle of Pinot Noir and a Levain cookie in hand, and they’d order takeout to catch up on their days. They exchanged "I love yous" on a hike Upstate (Peter said it first!), saw shooting stars while cuddling by a bonfire, and embarked on many outdoor adventures together, including some hilarious misadventures. When Mary moved to Brooklyn, Peter "suprisingly" didn't realize it was to be closer to him. Through it all, their love continued to grow. Peter later asked Mary's father for his blessing before proposing on a trip to the Catskills, catching Mary completely by surprise. Their relationship is built on conversation, laughter, trust, and a shared sense of adventure. Peter and Mary can't wait to continue creating memories as husband and wife!
