Live music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Free to the public and just a six-minute walk from Cecelia, making it the perfect pre–welcome party activity.
A collection of locally owned fast-casual restaurants walking distance from the downtown hotels. On Saturday morning, it’s the perfect starting point for the Red Stick Farmers Market.
An LSU staple! A rooftop table, a bucket of beer, and a dozen oysters are our idea of the perfect Louisiana spring day. The great jumping-off point to explore LSU’s campus or visit the original Raising Cane’s restaurant located right next door.
Sushi and great views of the Mississippi River (well, as great as the Mississippi River can look)
Great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Within walking distance of downtown hotels.
Street-style tacos, outdoor seating and margs!
The pregame spot of all pregame spots. One Superior margarita and you’re guaranteed to have a good night. Also have a location on Highland Road.
Our first date spot! Wood-fired pizza and great drinks. We recommend splitting a pizza, then walking across the street to Mid City Beer Garden.
Great for large groups! Outdoor seating and TVs to watch The Masters.
A local favorite, perfect for trying Louisiana brews and to watch The Masters.
Stop in for coffee and a pastry! Mary Michael’s favorite spot to study throughout high school and college.
In-house roasted coffee with a mission-driven cause. If you go, ask to say hi to Steve, our wedding officiant and Light House owner, and his lovely wife, Amber!
Beignets. Need we say more.
If you’re in the mood for a walk, we recommend two routes to see some of LSU’s sights. First, start at Tiger Stadium, then stop by Mike the Tiger’s habitat. Walk up Victory Hill toward the Indian Mounds, and end at the Bell Tower and Parade Grounds. Reward yourself with a cold beer at The Chimes. Alternatively, to see Sorority Row and some of Baton Rouge’s most charming homes, you can make a loop around the University Lakes (currently under construction, but you can get the vision). Start at Milford Wampold Memorial Park and head left down the path to see Sorority Row. From there, either continue the loop for a tour of the homes or walk into campus toward The Chimes to reward yourself with a drink.
We recommend Felix’s for oysters—Cooper’s favorite spot to enjoy with his dad on trips to NOLA. You also won’t want to miss Pat O’Brien’s, Parkway Bakery and Tavern, or a stroll down Magazine Street to stop by Saba.
