A Catholic wedding Mass is similar to Sunday Mass, with the addition of the Rite of Catholic Marriage. The Rite is what recognizes the union in the eyes of the Church, and confers on the couple the Graces of the Sacrament of Marriage. Catholics believe these graces, as we read in the Bible, greatly assist the couple by providing spiritual help in their marriage and their commitment to God and each other, and help to live out the vows proclaimed during their wedding ceremony.
The wedding and reception are semi-formal. The wedding ceremony will be in the Catholic Church and the reception will follow in an outdoor setting. We recommend wearing shoes to walk on grass and bringing a sweater or jacket for the evening. Stiletto or otherwise-thin heels are not recommended. Please no jeans or shorts, dress pants are recommended for men.
