Mikhail & MK met at a ward linger longer in June of 2023. MK was of course sitting at a table by herself, minding her own business. Mikhail saw her from across the room and knew he needed to talk to her. Of course she was not giving him the time of day at all! Thankfully that did not dissuade him at their second encounter, which was a few weeks later. To summarize their second encounter, let’s just say there was a whole lot of sass and not a lot of deterrence... Which both surprised and confused certain members of this party. (It’s kind of a long story. If you haven’t heard it, ask us about it ;)) About a week later MK asked Mikhail to go to the Days of 47 Rodeo, which she had scored some awesome VIP tickets. He declined the invitation (rude) since he already had plans. At this point she decided that it wasn't meant to be and moved on emotionally. Another week or so goes by and we're back at church. MK sees Mikhail in the middle of a conversation so she decided to just try to slip by without being noticed (remember the “moved on emotionally”). This turned out to be unsuccessful! The next thing she knew, Mikhail stopped her, asked about the rodeo, and then with his friend playing wingman, Mikhail asked MK out on their first date (about dang time!). Their first date was on August 9th. They became official on August 26th. A short six weeks later, Mikhail left for OCS Training in Rhode Island where communication was limited. At first they could only write letters to one another. Even after email access was granted they continued to build their relationship through these hand written notes. After three months of training, Mikhail got Christmas leave and had an opportunity to visit MK’s family in Texas. Even after their time apart, they quickly reconnected and knew this was meant to be. After graduation in February, Mikhail got orders to Salt Lake City, where they reconnected for the second time. They decided to be married for time and all eternity. Their first assignment will be in Yokosuka, Japan. They are so excited for the adventure that lays before them being a military family and serving their country.
