The Traditional Latin Mass

Summary:

The Tridentine Mass, also known as the Traditional Latin Mass or the Traditional Rite, is the liturgy in the Roman Missal of the Catholic Church codified in 1570. It was the most widely used Eucharistic liturgy in the world from its issuance in 1570 until 1970. If you'd like to learn more about the Latin mass, below are two sources we recommend. - Mass of the Ages (https://www.latinmass.com/) - Reverent Catholic Mass (https://reverentcatholicmass.com/blog/how-easily-grasp-latin-mass-step-step-guide)

Attire

Per St. Stanislaus:

For women- "...dresses worn in the church shall cover the shoulders. Strapless dresses or those with 'spaghetti straps' for brides or attendants are not appropriate in a sacred space and are not permitted. Backless dresses and those cut low (in front) or dresses with “slits” above the knee and transparent fabric will not be permitted." When in doubt, either choose another dress or throw on a wrap/shawl. For men- standard cocktail attire is appropriate.

Church etiquette

Out of reverence for Christ, please observe the following:

No talking in church: we're so excited for old friends to get together and for new friends to meet, but please refrain from talking in church unless absolutely necessary. Receiving communion: Catholics in good standing with the Catholic Church may receive Our Lord on the tongue at the communion rail. There is no need to say "Amen" as the priest has that covered, and he cannot distribute the Eucharist in your hands. If you are a non-Catholic or a Catholic who will not be receiving, please remain in the pew and pray for the couple. No clapping: the couple will not kiss or be announced in the church, so save this for the after party too! No phones: please turn off your phone before entering the church. Don't worry, we have an amazing photographer and videographer, so all photos and videos can be left to them.
