Augusta is located on the Savannah River and has multiple trails and walkways where you can enjoy the view. To name a few: - Augusta Riverwalk: Walkway located downtown, 6th through 10th Street. Stop along the way at restaurants and museums located on the upper level. - Savannah Rapids Park: Offers more scenic trails, historic sites, and outdoor activities like bike and kayak rental. - Augusta Canal National Heritage Area: River-adjacent with trails as well as boat tours.
Shops, restaurants, and entertainment all near the weekend's wedding activities. Some of our favorites include: - Sandwiches & Lunch: New Moon Cafe, Hildebrandt's, Knuckle Sandwiches, SoSal - Dinner: Pizza Joint, Beamie's at the River for casual spots. Craft & Vine, Frog Hollow for slightly more upscale - Dessert: Boll Weevil - Music: Stillwater, Soul Bar, Fox's Lair, Metro Pub & Coffeehouse - Conor's favorite combination: Luigi's (old-school Greek-Italian restaurant) and neighboring Sports Center (it's a sports bar)
Outdoor shopping center with several Augusta gems: - Dining: Bodega for breakfast, Solfood for light & healthy lunch, and for dinner take your pick – Abel Brown, Calvert's, French Market Grille, Finch & Fifth...really any restaurant here! - Shopping: SOHO, One, Swank, Shoes at Surrey, Charleston Street, Design Images
Don't be alarmed when you cross state lines! It's just across the river and less than 10 minutes from our wedding venue. - Dining: Salt & Marrow, Brinkley Steak House, Rio Cantina, Sheila's Baking Co. (great pastries), Sno-Cap (retro diner), Manuel's, The Larder, Southbound Smokehouse (BBQ & live music), Pink Dipper (nostalgic ice cream spot) - Outdoor activities: more walking trails with water views at the North Augusta Greenway and Brick Pond Park - The Augusta GreenJackets: While we hope we don't lose guests to Augusta's minor league baseball team, Thursday and Sunday are yours to a catch game!
As a couple, we can't claim the most golf experience. Mary Ellen quit while she was ahead at age seven after placing 2nd in a father/daughter tournament, while Conor enjoyed the low stakes of being the 9th-best person on his ten-person high school team. But you can't talk about Augusta without mentioning it! So, a few places we hear are good: - Forest Hills Golf Club: Popular option less than 10 minutes from the Partridge Inn. - The Augusta Municipal Golf Course, aka "The Patch": Currently undergoing construction but with plans to re-open Spring 2026. - The River Golf Club: Nearby on the North Augusta side. Private but offers packages with their cottages. - The Augusta National: If this is an option for you, congratulations!
Taqueria El Patron: Where we had our first date that Mary Ellen didn't know was a date.
